Need some advice

I’ve been trying to lose weight for over 6+ months and working with my doctor. I haven’t lost a pound nothing and I’m completely lost. My doctor tried medications such as phentermine topamax even diabetic medications like trulicity and ozempic. He’s also been tracking my steps every month helping me reach 10,000 steps a day. I currently go to the gym 3-4 times a week doing both cardio some days and interval training and watch what i eat/portion control (watch the carbs, not eating after 8 etc). I’ve also done every blood test there is and there’s no medical reason why my weight isn’t coming off. I’m only 21 years old 5’3 215 and worried about my health in the future since my BMI right now is 38. He suggested since we tried for so many months to talk to a bariatric surgeon. But I’m iffy about going that route. Let me know if anyone has suggestions or advice!!

I’m seriously in almost the same exact boat! I haven’t seen my family doctor because it’s almost impossible to get in with her before a year out, so I’ve been troubleshooting with my allergist. I have never moved so much in my entire life, even when I weighed 120 lbs in high school. The weight came on fairly quickly (70 lbs in less than 2 years). I don’t know what to do either?? I’ve changed my diet, cut out sugary drinks (including drinking black coffee 😬), exercises 4-5 times a week, gotten regular sleep, etc. No change 😡 It’s so frustrating, but know that you are definitely not alone!

Have you had your body fat percentage measured? And seeing a nutritionist might be beneficial, doctors aren't trained all that much on diet (seems counterintuitive but it's true). You may be building muscle and losing fat. Before I got pregnant my weight didnt change at all but the intense workout I did changed my size & measurements. Take measurements and get more professional opinions. Surgery is a huge step. 💜

Maybe you have PCOS. I have a mild case of this I was diagnosed after my second child I was running and couldn’t lose weight 😞 I got pregnant by surprise had baby number 3 (11 years ago ) and have not lost a pound I hover between 185-215 it sucks but I know so many people that surgery didn’t help I’m 38 and was seriously going to have it last year but my husband talked me out of it. Good luck 👍 It’s a terrible situation to be in.

I would definitely keep doing what your doctor says, that’s what will keep you from becoming to extreme. And mental health is truly so important in any weight loss surgery. Make sure you are create routines that make you happy in the mornings and evenings, drinking loads of water, and obviously avoid sugar and processed foods! I’m no medical expert so that’s the best I can do, but don’t get discouraged! Focus on being happy and healthy before you focus on the weight.
