Go away RSV!

Well, it’s been a week since my little girl first started getting sick from RSV. It just seemed like the sniffles at first. Three days later, it was full blown and she was sent home from daycare.

Yesterday she had a very scary episode where she coughed for 20 minutes straight and then started turning red and purple from choking on her own phlegm. My husband was at work and so I was home alone with her and didn’t know what to do. I called the doctor in a panic. He wanted us to go to the hospital that is half an hour away because they have a NICU. I was terrified so he had us stop in the office first since it’s only a few minutes away. She was choking as I was putting her in the car seat. I was hysterical but we made it to the doctor. By the time we got there, the coughing had subsided, so he gave us a nebulizer and said to come back the next day for a recheck.

Baby girl had a good night and only coughed a couple of times. I felt like maybe she was on the upside of this thing. We went to our appointment and the doctor said her lungs sound worse, not better. We have to continue with the nebulizer and if anything changes with her breathing, we have to get her to the hospital right away. The doctor said it’s pretty serious at this point.

She is acting and looking like her normal self today. I’m devastated that internally, she is worse. She doesn’t have a fever and is coughing less than she was yesterday. She is still sleeping through the night and napping very well. I just wish this virus would get the hell away from us. 😭
