Tips for getting a 14 month old to fall asleep on their own?

Question

My husband and I have been really bad about letting our son fall asleep with us and then putting him in his crib but I’m trying to break him of it before his little brother arrives.

Start with a consistent bedtime routine with little things that signal its bedtime. I’ve been following a routine since the day we came home from the hospital. My kiddos are 19 months and 4 months old. Here is our routine: we go upstairs around 630/7 every night. Bath if needed. Diapers/jammies. Read books, sing, snuggle. Lo gets swaddled, nursed / bottle. I take my oldest to brush teeth around 730. I put lavender essential oil on myself and my partner. Turn on white noise and stars night lights in their bedrooms. My partner takes lo and bounces him on the edge of the bed till he’s asleep, puts him in his crib and sneak out. I take my daughter to her room. Rock her to sleep. If everything goes as planned both babies are asleep in their cribs in their rooms by 8/830.
