is it better to put baby on boob to get your breasts to come down or pump it first then let her feed when it’s not hardened and full?

My lactation consultant always suggested to hand express first because pumping increases supply and can cause too fast of flow for the baby right now. I use my Haakka to help after i start hand expressing!

I think it’s to each it’s own but my consultant said to pump a little before feeding because my son is impatient and wants his food to be coming out already and then afterwards to increase supply.

I usually pump first and then put baby on boob. Because after I pump my breast are still leaking milk. However there are times when I hold him football position and feed off one breast while I pump the other one.
