Epidural reaction or “labor shakes”?

I recently just learned that “labor shakes” are a thing. When I was in labor I was not feeling contractions in my stomach, it was all in my back. I held out for about 20 hours of labor until I got my epidural. I thought it was amazing for maybe 30 minutes and then I hit a major wall and felt so awful and sick. I had to have my family leave the room. I felt super nauseous, had chills, and was shaking and shivering uncontrollably. They kept giving me blankets but I just couldn’t get warm or stop shaking. The nurses said this was a really bad reaction during labor and then my baby and I both went into distress with irregular heart beats. I was able to get her out eventually but I am scared to ever get the epidural again. I think it was this that caused me to have the reaction but now I’m thinking maybe it’s just labor shakes and I might have it with every delivery. Did anyone else experience this or is it just me? I don’t know what to think. Sorry for this super long and way after the fact post!

The shakes are from your hormones as you advance into the more active stages of labor. The epidural won’t do this.

I was shaking like it was clothe coldest I’ve ever been! And I didn’t feel cold! To the point it effected how I was walking and getting out of bed at the hospital

I've had 2 natural births and have had the same time. I'm always shaking cold even after I give birth🤷‍♀️

Natural birth and had shakes, nurses said it was absolutely normal and to not fight it

I had them all 3 times and no epidural.  I also threw up all through transition with the first two.  Third I was only nauseated.  This last time, I shook for a good 3 hours after he was born.  I hemorrhaged each time though.

I had the shakes the whole time I was in labor... 12 hours. I think it was more of a nervous/anxious thing though. Nurses and Drs kept asking if I was ok and if I was cold. I had to tell myself to relax over and over. Sometimes it would help but most of the time it didn’t.

i got the shakes immediately after i delivered! my labor and delivery was essentially natural, i got an epidural but not in time, and when it did kick in, the only thing that got numb was my right knee. 
but i’ve been told the epidural can make you shakey too!

So with my last labor (I’ve had 2), my nurse was teaching a student (something I was totally okay with and could opt out at any point). And at one point I started shaking uncontrollably. I had the epidural. But I was shaking and a little cold. (I don’t remember it really with my first but hubby said he remembered it). Anyways my nurse said that it was the transition period going from about 8-10cm. She said not every woman has it but it’s a huge indicator. (She was a little older and had been in l&d for an extremely long time). She hadn’t checked me for about an hour before rhat. Once I started having those, she literally started getting everything ready and getting the doctor in, and sure enough they check, I was a full 10 cm, and baby girl was born within 3 pushes.

I was shaking too but didnt feel cold. And i puked but no nausea. Think it was the hormone. I had the epidural.
