Two bags of water, but one baby...?

So, last Sunday my water broke, And I went to the hospital and I was 5 cm dilated. I had copious amounts of fluid coming out, so I was admitted. They started the Pitocin, to get my contractions closer together.

The nurse then checked my cervix about 1.5-2 hours later, and said I was still 5 cm dilated, but that something was weird. The nurse said, “Hmm, weird. You have two bags of water. It’s literally bulging out. We are going to have to break the second bag.”

I didn’t asked how or what that meant, but I was more focused on having a good labor and transition process.

has anyone else had this before??

The birthing class that I took said every one has 2 bags technically. One is very thin and basically provides a buffer for the amniotic sac.

Everything went great, was just curious about the water and having two. But, the delivery was great and only pushed for 8 minutes.
