Cipro and breastfeeding?

I just got diagnosed with UTI and I am 4 weeks postpartum. The dr gave me cipro and said I could breastfeed after 4 hrs taking the pill. Anyone been through this? Is it safe for baby to drink my milk?

Yes, Cipro is ok, I was on it for a postpartum infection with my firstborn & was okayed to nurse him. The recommendation to wait is only to try to reduce possible GI effects in the baby-- which my baby didn't have any of, & I definitely wasn't able to control feed timing because my baby was a newborn at the time-- so it's also not actually dangerous if you need to feed prior to 4hours.
