Our rainbow is a sick little boy
Well today I went to Maternal Fetal Medicine at St V's to have a fetal echocardiogram on our baby boy. We found out some devastating news. He has a severe heart defect similar to Mackenzie's. We have appointments the the following weeks with the pediatric cardiologist to discuss how "fixable" this is but Dr Wallace is very hopeful that with surgery they can fix it. We will have to deliver him in Denver which means a scheduled repeat cesarean around 38-39 weeks. We will more than likely be most if not all of February in Denver. Baby will have his first open heart surgery probably within a few days of delivery if not right away. I will be getting some genetic testing done by blood draw soon and will be weighing my options on an amniocentesis after discussing it with Eric in hopes that it's not a chromosomal issue like trisomy 18. Please be in prayer for our son. I can't believe this is happening. I went into the appointment feeling good about it and thinking he was perfectly healthy. I was completely wrong. His sister Mackenzie died from a heart defect just like his in October 2013
