Considering the amount of servers or ex servers who have come on here and said how little they make and that the majority have to rely on tips to make ends meet I wouldn't personally go for that career if you're in the USA ... In the UK it's completely different

15 minutes is hardly a big difference when you would be making money with an opportunity to make more money in the future. It’s different if you said 15 minutes and 2 hours. But what is the job 15 minutes away?

Depends on how much you’d be making in tips on average. I personally couldn’t survive on $13.50 an hour, that’s awful pay to me

I was a server at multiple restaurants for many years. I would say this depends. If it’s fine dining, if there are designated bussers, the overall location, if there’s a bar, what type of scene there is, etc. I’ve been a server at some restaurants where it was easy and not too bad, made easily $15/hour (I made 2.30/hour but with tips it really ended up being $15+/hour if you divide it up). I’ve also worked some places where I had to clean my own tables, stressed out constantly, and made $15 a whole shift. So it depends greatly.

Depends on where you live! I’ve been a server for 6 years and I’ve worked places where I make $1000 a month and places I’ve made $4500 a month. I love serving, I couldn’t ever work retail but I’ve dealt with some crazy shit and it’s messy and people can be rude. But There aren’t many jobs you can have where you can walk away with $100 after a shift
