as a parent how would you feel if your 16-17 year old kid was having sex behind your back and you found out?

my question is would you be mad yes or no? i'm very conflicted on this as i feel like as a parent i would be frustrated and wouldn't be able to trust my kid anymore and i would be extremely disappointed and wouldn't be able to look at my kid the same way again but at the same time i wouldn't feel like it's my choice to control when my almost adult kid decides it's the right time to explore sexually. what are your thoughts?

I couldn’t be extremely mad, because I was doing it. I’d be disappointed. I hope to teach my children better, educate them (as I was not), and just make sure they know they can talk to me about anything!

when my family found out i had sex my aunt was more upset that i didn’t tell her so i can get put on birth control, i regret sneaking behind their backs because i feel like it’s important for atleast someone to know and i wish i had spoke up to become more educated possibly.

I would be very upset and disappointed if my child felt they had to go behind my back and hide it from me. I’d rather they wait until the are older but 16 isn’t an unacceptable age to be sexually active. It’s really hard to imagine because I really indent to be proactive and quite in depth making sure they know not just how to be safe but how to know themselves and be a good partner. 
I mean sex is great, it’s sacred, I don’t just want my child to be safe and avoid risk, I want them to enjoy it and intentionally create good experiences. I can’t imagine being the way I am about it my child would go behind my back. Like that would be a fail moment if ever there has been in my life!

Educate your children and supply them with birth control and condoms. In my state age of consent is 18 so I would hope my child would be smart enough to wait until age 18, and I would fully educate them about sex.

Cant control them. Theres so much that they're going to do without telling you. Sometimes they think they know best. Its better to give them good advice and teach them how to properly care for themselves. Telling them no will not prevent it and theres no reason you shouldn't trust them afterwards. Its life.

It's a very normal age honestly. The best you can do as a parent is to be kind about it and stress the importance of protection. He'll do it whether you approve or not and if you punish him for it, I believe he'll only resent you even more.

i mean as long as they’re being safe i see no problem. not everyone seems sex as sacred and that’s fine. i definitely don’t trust my mom enough to tell her i’m sexually actively, however i’m also a lesbian so there’s no worries of pregnancies lmao. not everyone wants to wait till marriage or sees it as a sacred holy thing and that’s fine. if you find out their sexually active just make sure they’re safe and are using protection.

Well.... i wouldn't be able to judge. Zero, nada, zilch. I'd be such a hypocrite if i did. As long as they understand the risks, use protection and stay safe that would be my main concern that they are aware of everything. Getting mad wouldn't solve anything in my opinion anyways. It would probably just make them get more sneaky about it.

I plan on educating my daughter on her body and male too and provide her with what she would need to be safe . I'd ask her to please wait but having been a teen myself once I dont really expect her to. I just hope she waits
