Spontaneous perforation

Diana
Need some feed back regarding spontaneous perforation. My 24 weeker had it a week after he was born, he had a small procedure done and a week or 2 weeks later it healed but now he's getting surgery tomorrow to the upper GI to see what the issue is cuz he has not been tolerating his feeds very well. He starts having bad reflux and major spit ups followed w/ bad desats. Doctors have tried everything (anything from upper/lower GI testing, to being put on a diary free diet) now he'll be getting surgery tomorrow. I'm worried and trying not to stress out bout it but has anyone have gone through this?

My daughter didn't have a perf but was showing the same signs you said your son has had following his surgery. She was having bradachardia when she was eating and bad reflux. She's on Zantac now and that has seemed to help with the reflux. Sometimes I just absolutely cannot get her to burp and she'll spit up. As far as the brady episodes and desats, she was just eating too fast. I also found that once I lowered the temperature of her milk, that helped. Is your son spitting up everything and is he still pooping? They had my daughter on TPN for a week during her NEC treatment. She had a stomach suction for 5 days also. It seemed that most of her problems had resolved after that...except for the reflux. Like I said, the Zantac has helped with that though. Keep us updated! Hopefully someone else on here will have some input and advice. Wishing you the best!
