Thoughts on circumcision?

I’m having a little boy in July. My husband wants it done but I’m not sure what to do 😭

It's not really that common in the UK the only time I really hear about it is when USA members post about it.. or people posting regarding religious beliefs. 
Personally I don't think it's necessary unless medically needed but ultimately I guess it's down to the parents to decide

It’s cosmetic and lots of doctors don’t do it anymore. and it’s his body. We don’t mutilate girls parts, why would we do it to boys?

After working as an aide for years in the nursing homes and hospitals, I'm for circumcision. 
Just because you teach your son how to take care of his penis with the foreskin still attached does not mean he's always going to be capable of it. There are a lot of trained people who don't properly know how to care for uncircumcised men. I've seen men with cottage cheese type build up underneath their foreskin from not being cleaned properly, blisters on the head of their penis from lack of hygiene or a reaction that went unnoticed because proper care wasn't given each time, and with the head swelled up huge because someone didn't replace the foreskin correctly and it started cutting off circulation to the penis. I could do everything properly to teach my son, but the minute he's in someone else's care, unable to care for himself, I want to make sure he's getting the proper care when it comes to hygiene.

Do your own research, ask doctors for their medical opinions, and come to an agreement with each other. There is no right or wrong with this, just do what you feel is best for your child.

My son is circumcised and so is my husband. We did it for medical reasons. 
What you want to do with your child is up to you, not us.

I’m not for it or against it, I’m for whatever the parents decide. Because it’s really no one’s business at the end of the day. I had my son circumcised and I don’t regret it. Based on extensive research, it made the most sense for our family.

I can see the argument both ways. We ended up having a girl, but before we found out we talked about it and I was going to leave the decision up to my husband. I feel like it’s sort of his area to decide.

I’m in the same boat! (Potentially as we don’t know the sex yet) not for religious reasons but my partner is circumcised and is very thankful he is. He would like for his son to be done as well but ultimately will leave it up to me. I’m on the fence about it! I don’t want to inflict pain on my child, but he does make good points about why as a male he prefers it and honestly it is cleaner. 
Out of every man I’ve come into contact with he was the first to be circumcised (it’s not common here in Australia either)
