So frustrating...

Ashley • endo & pcos warrior. Married to my best friend 8.12.17. Mom to Annaliese 6.24.19 and Luke 8.1.23👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👶💕

So, I had complications with my postpartum recovery and wasn't able to to start really working out until recently. I'm 7 months postpartum and I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I'm 5'2 and in the 150s right now. I was in the 120's pre-pregnancy. So I have about 20-25lbs to lose. I purchased a digital scale from bally and it is constantly reading my weigh ins differently. For example I was on the scale and it read 154. Then I got off, waited for it to clear, and back on and it read 150. So naturally, I'm now confused. Like which one is it? And I'm just getting discouraged and feel like I'm failing. Getting tired of this crap, and am looking for a better digital scale to help keep me motivated to track my progress and not give up. Any suggestions?

The variation could just be from standing on a different spot on the scale which distributes weight differently. Your weight will fluctuate all the time anyway. If you drink a glass of water, up a pound until it's expelled through sweat, respiration, and urination. In other words, don't let fluctuations get to you. As for your scale, maybe put some marks on your scale to stand in the same spot every time. Also make sure your scale isn't on a rug. That will throw things off too. Weight loss is usually affected more by diet than exercise. That doesn't mean you shouldn't work out, because it absolutely burns calories and can increase your metabolism. But if you only rely on excercise without changing eating habits it will take much longer to lose weight. Also be sure you don't lose more than a pound or two per week in order to stay healthy.
