Is my baby too big?

Question

She's 3 going on 4 months old on February 12 and probably around 17lbs now. She's fed on demand either breast or bottle around every two or three hours (4-5oz). Her doctor has said that she's gained too much weight and it could hurt her because it could be causing her not to be able to breath easily. I just feel like crap now because I feel like I've put my baby in danger because of this and I just want to cry and feel like a horrible mother.

All babies grow at a different rate. However, if your doctor is concerned, get a second opinion. If both doctors are concerned see what they suggest you do. 
How big was baby at birth? 17lbs seems like a lot but I am no professional so it could be within normal range.

At 3-4 months 17 pounds does seem like a lot mostly because my 1.5 year old is 23 pounds. Babies do grow at their own pace but do get a second opinion.

My baby girl is 17 weeks and 17 pounds. The doctor said she is happy and healthy! 🤷🏻‍♀️￼

My second was 17lbs 13oz at his 4 month checkup. His doctors never expressed any concern, and he is now a perfectly healthy 15 month old. He currently weighs around 26/27lbs, he’s also quite tall. 
I don’t know your son’s history, or how quickly his weight increased, but if your doctor expressed concern I wouldn’t ignore it. Get a second opinion, and go from there. 17lbs at 4 months isn’t automatically cause for concern, but it could be depending on other factors.

My baby was that weight by 3 or 4 months too and he’s plateaued for the last 2 or three months. He was born at 8lb

My nephew weighed 26 pounds at 6 months old. Exclusively breastfed. Some babies get CHUNKY and some dont. I would see another doctor first before taking this ones word for it. It's pretty rare to be told your infant is overweight like that🤷‍♀️

Me niece was born at 36 weeks at almost 8lbs. She’s always been in the 90th percentile. She’s 3 wearing 5t shirt and pants.

I’m not even sure how you could control that? You of course would feed your child when they are hungry...
