Anyone have thyroid nodules?

Anyone have this or know about with these?
Jus got told by my doctor I have a large one on my left side.
Does this always mean bad news??? What if my biopsy results come out benign? Do I need surgery

I have nodules on both lobes of my thyroid. They have been there for about 7 years now, they are non cancerous and my doctor does an ultrasound once a year to make sure they haven’t changed. I also have thyroid disease which is why they think I got the nodules in the first place.

My mom had some. They did a needle biopsy, came out benign, and they did remove her thyroid about two weeks later
