Nursing less due to eating solids

My son is almost 8 months old and started eating purees at 6 months. He loves food. He'll scream and open his mouth as soon as we sit him in his high chair. I always nurse him about 30-60 minutes before he eats but he doesnt nurse much. He used to be at the breast for at least 10 minutes every 3 hours during the day and now he barely nurses for 5 minutes sometimes only a minute. I really want to breastfeed him for at least a year and I know most of his calories should still be coming from breastmilk. Should I be worried? Should I cut back on solids so he nurses more?

I think 2 purées a day at his age is good enough. That’s what I did and nursed the rest of the time. Then I eventually just did morning and night sessions. I would say cut back on the solids and give more breastmilk.

I wouldn’t worry too much as long as he’s still nursing. My son was the same way at around the same age. He’s 14 months now and I’m still breastfeeding even though he’s a really great eater.
