Pump and dump 😭

Esmi

So I took a medication that is not safe for breastfeeding. Does anyone know how long I'll have to pump and dump. I want to get my baby back breastfeeding asap.

You should call her pediatrician & ask about the specific medication. (You also might try looking it up on kellymom-- great website for all things breastfeeding.) You likely don't have to pump & dump at all-- your body removes most things from your milk at the same rate as your blood etc. The time frame for it to completely clear varies depending on the meds.

You need to research the half life of the exact drugs given and multiply it by 7 to be safe. Then divide that number by 24 hours and that is how many days to pump and dump. I can do it for you if you tell me the medications. Are you waiting until all the medication is completely out of your system?

Look up the specific medication on LactMed

I still see it! I know the link won't work here but it's https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK501922/

I think the lactmed website went down. Last time I tried to check it it was redirecting to a toxicology site? Do you still see it?

Depends on the medicine.
