IVF or laparoscopy for possible endometriosis?

Sa

We have failed 3 rounds of IUI so we are meeting with the RE this month to decide what to do next. At the last meeting with her, my doctor said she thinks I may have endometriosis but can’t find out for sure unless they do a laparoscopy. We have to decide if we want to move forward and go right into IVF or do the laparoscopy. All of my hormones and anatomy are where they need to be or better, I am extremely regular with my cycles, and my husband’s samples have all be okay, so the endometriosis is her best guess for our unexplained infertility based on me getting moderately severe cramps.

Has anyone else had to make this decision? I’m hesitant to do surgery, especially since I would have to wait during recovery time before we can keep trying, but would it be worth it? Insurance would pay for everything but copays and meds with IVF but I know it may not work depending on where the endometriosis is, so I’m torn about what to do next. We have been trying for 3 years so we don’t want to prolong the process if we don’t have to.

Please let me know what you chose to do when deciding between these options, and how long it took to conceive afterwards. Any insight is appreciated!! Baby dust to all 💕
