Domestic air travel with 9 month old?

We are taking our first trip to Tampa with our daughter any flight advice? Also should we be reconsidering with the coronavirus outbreaks?

Right now I would be more worried about the flu than that other virus. It’s not as common as the flu and that has more casualties. Depending on the airline, families get to board first (yay!). Sucking on a pacifier or whatever will keep your babies ears from popping during takeoff and landing.

We’ve traveled a lot domestically with our (now) 9 month old. We brought her sleep sack, so it signaled her it was time to nap. If you have a layover, the ergo was really helpful. We had a bottle ready for take off, to help her ears pop. We also opted for the aisle seats all the time so we could get up more easily for diaper changes or fussy moments. Good luck!!

We recently traveled with our 9 month old on a 6hr flight. He was great. Your baby will be fine. I got over the anxiety when I told myself I don’t care if my baby cries and people get upset! It is what it is! Something that is completely out of your control. People just have to deal, no one wants to be that parent with the crying baby but this is all new for babies to. Needless to say your baby and you will be fine. We did a red eye going, and he slept through the night. Coming back we did an early flight and he practically stayed up, watched a little tv and my husband and I passed him back and forth. Not sure which airline carrier you’re using but jet blue offered to give us the entire row since there were a few empty seats on the plane.

We like to sit in the front row, or pay extra for extra leg space. It allowed my baby to sit down and play on the floor and give me a little break. 
If you formula feed, prepare all the bottles for the flight before you get on the plane. There is less room to manipulate things once you’re sitting.

Try to sit near people who are super friendly or have kids themselves just in case baby gets fussy. If you breastfeed sit by the window it gives you a little more privacy. Change diaper right before the plane boards. Also flying home I was told baby had to be out of her carrier for take off which was annoying because she was already sleep on my chest.
