Are you suppose to clean your babies ears?

I wasn't and noticed it was all gunky so I take a cloth and wipe everything except her ear hole obviously.

I clean outside the canal because it gets dry shampoo and gunk at each bath time but I never go in the canal. I dont even think adults are technically supposed to clean their ears.

I take a wet qtip and just run in along hard to reach areas then what’s easily accessible I use a wash cloth. I don’t go into the ear canal
