Are NHS crisis in Britain common?

Question

I’m curious as to if there are financial crisis with the NHS because of the single payer healthcare.  
Bonus question: how long has Britain been a single payer healthcare system?

The crisis in the NHS is caused by our conservative government not funding it correctly and outsourcing parts of it to private contractors who gut it for a profit.
It is not in crisis because it is 'single payer', or because of immigration, or because of the EU, or for any other reason the right wing politicians and media say it is.
Our NHS is the single best thing about Britain. Why do I love it?
It safely delivered my two children, saved my friends life, kindly cared for my Nan when she passed away, quickly detected and treated my mums kidney cancer my dads leaking heart valve, treated my husband's acute tonsillitis, vaccinated my children. 
Every time I am concerned that there might be something wrong with either myself or my children, I can get an appointment to see my family doctor (called a GP) on the same day. Usually within 3 hours.
All of this.....with zero copays, deductibles, excesses, bills or costs to us as a family. It is free at the point of demand.
It is paid for by a tax called National Insurance. My husband pays this but I do not have to as i do not work enough hours. It is affordable to everyone no matter how much you work or even if you do not work.
That tax is based on income and not on your medical circumstances. No matter how much you use the NHS, that tax does not change. And you do not pay anything further, except a flat price of around £9 for prescription costs. 
I am so passionate about defending what some call 'socialised medicine'. I cannot understand why so many ordinary people in America reject it. It saves lives and leaves no one in debt because of illness.

It is underfunded by the government  and abused but i still hand on heart believe it is the best healthcare system in the world
