Can wearing a menstrual cup cause tss?

Mari

My husband told me about the recent news article (I didn’t see it myself though). A girl got tss from a menstrual cup and lost her fingers. Now he won’t let me use them and I love using them because there economical and it’s almost like your not on your period ( till you have to empty it lol)

Probably because she didn’t clean it properly and/or left it in for too long. I haven’t personally used a cup, but that’s my best guess. I’m sure the risk associated with tampons is far higher...does he know about TSS and tampons?

It’s your body he has no right to tell you what you can do with it. As long as you remove, empty and clean the cup every 12 hours there is very little risk of complications from it.

Anything can give you tss really. It’s from bacteria. She probably left it in too long. You can use it. Just follow the guidelines for cleaning them. Your husband shouldn’t have a say in what you use to manage your menstrual cycle.
