I got the hormonal Mirena IUD that's good for 5 years. Anyway, I'm an idiot and even though I asked my OB/GYN a million questions, I forgot to ask how soon it becomes effective. I did a little quick reading online and saw that it's best to get it inserted while on your period, but if you don't, then to use back up protection for 7 days. Well, my cycle started on Jan. 21 and I got the IUD on cycle day 8, 3 days after my period ended. I had intercourse today, exactly 7 days after I got the IUD and on cycle day 15. Should I have any pregnancy concerns whatsoever? I have an 8 week old. Anyone know anything about the Mirena? 🤦‍♀️
