Weird period??

So, this morning I started my period. It started out very light, pretty much pink. Now as the day has gone on, I'm barely bleeding into my pad, but when I sit on the toilet and push, alot more blood comes out. Why is this? Should I be worried? Has this happened to anyone else? (I'm 26)
