When did you start giving baby rice cereal or purees??

My daughter is 14 weeks today and recently shes been insatiable. She took 8 oz. Tonight for the first time and slept 6 hrs! Way better than usual lol. Im thinking I want to start her on rice cereal

Babies cannot process grains properly at that age. Do not give food to an infant.

 it’s so dangerous. Sometimes babies  drink lots of milk just keep giving her the milk she wants.
the recommended age to start solid food is 6 months and cereals aren’t really recommended anymore as they don’t have much nutrients and are as such empty calories.
Maybe it might be best to speak to a midwife or and paediatrician.

14 weeks is way too young. Babies’ tummies aren’t prepared for solids at this age. You could actually hurt your baby. Baby may be going through a growth spurt. Just give more milk. Talk to your pediatrician. And when it comes time for purées (6 mos is average age) rice cereal really is not the way to go.

Get the go ahead from the pediatrician. I have a newborn so I can’t relate first hand. But I have a friend with a 5 month old and pediatricians where we live are introducing purée of different foods much earlier and before 6 months. Rice cereal was recommended from her pediatrician as he was underweight too. She was hesitant but went with the pediatricians recommendation and now he is back on track.
