Has anyone returned to work yet?

Question

I'm feeling mixed emotions about going back soon my little one is nearly 9 months ahhhhh! Has anyone gone back yet and how are you feeling?

I went back when he was 4 months old. My mom watches him which definitely helps. I honestly dont feel like the rest of the commenters though. I feel engaged with him when I'm at home since my focus is to spend quality time with my boys after work (I have a 3 year old as well). I genuinely love my job and feel so fulfilled and am very career driven. Work/life balance is definitely important.  I feel like we are programmed/society makes us feel like we need to feel guilty or sad for being away vs. Feeling empowered and proud of who we can be and what we can achieve aside from being mothers and wives.

I went back to work when my daughter was 3 months old. It’s hard and I’m still struggling to adjust. I don’t get enough time with my daughter. People keep telling me it gets easier, but honestly for me it hasn’t yet.

I went back at about 4.5 months. He loves daycare (he’s super social), and I love having structure to my day!!

I went back when baby was 3 months old. I swear as much as my kids have been sick the last couple months it doesn’t feel like I’ve gone back lol. But I love my job, they love daycare, it’s been great. The beginning was hard for everyone both times, though, it’s a big adjustment for baby, and for me it’s hard getting into yet another new schedule.

I went back to work when my daughter was 3 months. It makes me so sad to be away from her but I enjoy my job so that helps. My mom and step-mom trade off to take care of her so I feel blessed in that aspect too. It still isn’t easy to be away from her.

I had to go back to work when my twins were 8 weeks old, it killed me. I cried, a lot, and had to tell people to stop asking me how I was doing because it made it worse. Make sure the person watching your child knows not to tell you that the baby did something for the first time; crawl, sit up, walk etc. You want to be the first to see these things and to hear they did it while you were at work is horrible. It does get easier over time, but it is always hard to leave. When you go to work try to put all your focus on your job so your mind doesn't wander back to thinking about baby. Good luck

I have part time. Only 2 days a week which is nice. 🙂
