Would your spouse???

Question

If your spouse was sterile would he allow you to use a sperm donor to have a baby? Even though he knew it wouldn't be his baby,would he still be on board?

We are currently on this process. He was the one who chose which option to use and he picked sperm donor over adoption or IVF he is completely supportive and comes with me to every insemination and comforts me each time it doesn’t work. He knows that biology doesn’t matter and that of this works it is just as much his baby as it is mine.

We are doing this now, we tried all avenues including sperm retrieval surgery to get my husband's sperm but sadly nothing worked.
We are now 6 days into stims injections for IVF with donor sperm - the important thing for us was having a baby, it will still be 'his' baby and he will still be an amazing father even if the baby isn't genetically related 😃

My husband is fertile but for other reasons we weren’t able to use his sperm. He was completely on board. But, I think it was easier for him to process bc his family has a complex genetic makeup and bc he’s still fertile. I think it’s hard on men’s self-esteem when they’re not as it is for women.

I think it’s a decision that we would have discussed at length and be comfortable with. In my situation, we have made the decision that it was all of us or none so we are going to do ivf or adopt. Either way it’s emotionally financially mentally hard for the couple.

So biology doesn't matter to my husband and I, we are currently pursuing foster to adopt. We even thought about embryo adoption.. my husband has low count and a sperm donor was recommended. He didn't have a problem that it wouldn't be "his," biologically, but that it would be me with someone else, and I agree.

Idk I mines would I’m not in tht state but I would have never ask him to be ok with it either I want his kids no one else unless we r not together. I wudnt feel nice if I was in tht space n he come n ask me to use a nxt woman eggs I just can’t picture it but thts just me.

I don’t like the “phrasing” allow... but it makes it as though you have no choice... in our situation, we decided that it was ALL or nothing.. we did IVF 9 times and were successful 1 time and waiting for the results of 9.  (Our final) We decided that we were either going to try IVF  with both of our genetics or adopt.  Those were our choices.  But what is right for us, may not be right for you.  Both options are costly, and it just depends on how you two come to the decision.  What is more important? Being pregnant and carrying a child? Or sharing “blood”

We haven’t had this issue but had discussed it theoretically. We decided that we would chose a sperm donor together who has similar features to my SO.
