Reaction to perfume

My little one had a horrible reaction to fragrance recently. She was covered in a rash and it didn't seem uncomfortable or painful, but it seemed on the verge. So the doctor said it would clear up and to make sure that she avoids fragrances.

The trouble is we have in-laws who smoke, though not near our baby, but the third hand smoke is real, and another wears strong perfume. How is it not common knowledge that you shouldn't wear perfume around babies, especially newborns?

We will of course ask them to be fragrance free if they want to hold the baby, but I just know it will cause some sort of drama.

Sigh. The things we do for our kids.
