What should I sell on etsy ?

I’m trying to sell something on Etsy for some extra money I was originally thinking soaps but a lot of them are being sold and then I thought of something I love makeup of course I will be decorating them etc. Plus the ideas I have are not yet on Etsy ( decor ideas) what’s a better option ?

Soaps have a lot of competition, but if you can make really cool holders, do that instead. 
If you make soaps, I'd say make them unique- like cute shapes, gimmicks, whatever- to set yourself apart, since there are so many people makin soap.
I'm starting an etsy shop too! Again/finally. I "sold" antiques and handmade jewelry previously, and sold is in quotes because I sold ONE thing ever. Lol
So this time I'm starting with market research. 
Definitely look into SEO & put up a bunch of listings in the beginning- at least 10- because your listing will be seen by more customers if you have a bigger shop. 
You can sell digital prints too, that the customer prints, instead of shipping anything. I am planning on doing this, I can draw, but I'm not good with anything digital, so I'm trying to figure it out! Some people buy software to do this, and they don't necessarily need to know how to draw.
You can also dropship printable items if you are interested in designing some items, even making custom items. 
I also recommend salt dough as a medium because it is cheap, but very versatile. My salt dough is gluten free, I just use corn starch, because I react badly to wheat, myself. One can make ornaments, tags, decorations and even jewelry with it.
