If you have an IUD implant do you still use a menstrual cup?

If someone can explain why they do or do not use a cup with an iud I would appreciate it.

I did yeah but accidentally pulled it out by not breaking the seal good enough😬 i would say ask your dr and make sure you have insurance😂

Yes I use my cup with my copper IUD. My OB told me as long as I had experience with it before the IUD and knew how to release the seal before pulling the cup then I was good to keep using it.

I don’t get a heavy enough period to use my cup, but another reason I’m worried about using it is because the cup actually creates a suction and when you remove the cup if you do not release the suction enough or properly, it can cause the iud to shift or actually be pulled out. I would make sure you’ve had your iud in for at least a few months so that everything is settled, and then if you decide to use the cup, just make sure the suction is completely released before removing. Hopefully this helped!

I didn’t have a period with my iud, but one of my best friends uses her cup with her iud... no reason not to

I use discs. They don’t create suction and you can have sex with them. I have been using Nixit “cup” for a year and my string was cut very short. Will never be pulled or sucked out. I just slide the soft disc in and up and no issues. I did wait a good 6 months to get out of the expulsion period then I was good to go.
