I've been in my step sons life now for just over 2 years.

We took him out on a day trip last weekend. We went for breakfast, lunch, dinner and went to the aquarium, water park and rode his electric scooter around.

At lunch he wore his at inside, I mentioned how I was brought up never wearing my hat inside as it was considered rude.

Well when we went to dinner he straight away took his hat off. I was secretly so proud.

I always take my shoes off when I go inside. I always leave them at the front door.

Well my step son never has, he always wore them inside (I don't have a problem with it, I was just raised that way).

Well after 2 years he now leave them outside.

I feel like lately we are getting a bit closer. I try not to push having a relationship with him as I don't want him feeling uncomfortable because he said his mum doesn't want me around him. (Too bad hun I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere)

Well lately my stepson has been asking for cuddles, back tickles and even just asking me to do things with him. Normally he would ask his dad but now I feel more included.

It really does make you feel special.
