Medical advice
Dear Glow,
Sometimes moms need help with medical questions. Many times other moms can be helpful. But we are not doctors.
I live in Colorado, where a young boy just died from the flu. His mother had gone to the internet (a Facebook anti-vax group) to ask for help because the doctor had prescribed Tamiflu. They told her not to give him Tamiflu, but to give elderberry syrup, rub potatoes or cucumbers on the feet to draw out the fever....
There is so much medical advice being given on this app. I do see a lot of users posting common sense ideas and reminding women to check with their doctors. But not often enough.
Is there any way that Nurture can do more to encourage people seeking medical advice to check with their doctors? Or to discourage people from dispensing amateur medical advice?
When I read these posts I think about a person relying on the advice provided instead of seeking medical care, and the potential for tragic errors to occur. I think you would be helping to protect your users and their children if you could do more to address this problem.
Thank you!
