Are you sure it's teething? Around 3-4 months is when babies start to explore things by putting them in their mouths. This means constant drooling and always having something they're "chewing" on. You can give them a frozen washcloth or other toys that are safe to bite

Freeze any toys that he like to play with and let him chew on them. Frozen wash clothes also work or soothers. Teething toys seem to be the only thing that helps my babe. 
If baby let's you, rub the gums with your finger.
If he is in really bad pain, some medicine might be needed.

Try punkin butt teething oil on amazon. It saved my sanity!!

An old family trick that has been used for generations in my family is putting a dab of vanilla extract on your finger then rub it in the gums. It tastes nasty but it works. Even the adults do it when they get a tooth ache.

We had an early teether too! Frozen breast milk in these worked great

She loves the banana it's got little bristles which help sooth the gums

We also put these in the freezer

Other than that frozen wash clothes work great. Sometimes I'd rub it against her gums, then nurse her to let her mouth warm up again and switch off and on. 
Some other things that have helped a bit are teething oil, all it contains is olive, peppermint and clove oil the brand we use os calle Wellements. We also have used Camila which helped just a bit, but definitely isn't some magic potion.
Get a few different teethers and see what babe likes best!
