Salmon pink discharge?
I had unprotected sex last Wednesday (dumb, I know) with someone I’m not in a committed relationship with.
I take Lo Loestrin Fe everyday for birth control and to regulate my periods, but I missed my pill the day after on Thursday (also dumb, ugh).
The next day (one week ago), on Friday, I started having a salmon-colored, pinkish discharge with some mild cramping. I assumed it was breakthrough bleeding from missing one day of my pill, as that’s happened before.
The pinkish discharge also had a slight fishy scent to it and didn’t really smell like blood, which was abnormal to me. It continued very lightly until yesterday, so almost a week. I didn’t have any other symptoms—no burning pain during urination, no cramping after that first day, no increased urinary frequency or anything.
I’m just wondering what this discharge could be... it started two days after I had sex, so I doubt it’s implantation bleeding and the guy pulled out. Also, my birth control says I don’t need a backup method as long as it’s only one pill that I missed (otherwise I would’ve gotten Plan B).
Could this be a sign of an STD or BV instead, especially with the slightly fishy smell? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have an appointment with my Ob/Gyn soon. The thought of being pregnant terrifies me as I’m insanely busy in medical school, so I hope it’s not that.
