Older siblings during hospital stay?

Question

What have you done with older siblings during delivery/hospital stay? Were they there during delivery? Did you let them see baby right after they were born? Did you have alone time with your little fam in the hospital? Did you do gifts for the older sibling? 
I’ll have an almost 3 year old when baby is here, trying to be as prepared as possible!

My mil will watch my daughter when I’m in labor. She is 3. I think we will have a gift for her from her brother but also have her go with grandma to get a cake, balloons, and maybe a little gift for brother. Then we she comes to meet them we can have a little birthing party. She is pretty obsessed with birthdays and birthday cake right now so I think that will be fun for her.

My daughter is 7! I am reading the comments and it seems the age gap here is a bit wider. 
My husband and I intend to have her present at the hospital. She is very much in the loop about all the mature details. She knows her baby sister will come from my “hula” (God willing) and she also knows hula is actually vagina. 
I believe inclusion is huge! Also, we are doing gifts for her.

My son will go to my MIL they live 5 mins away so easy if its the middle of the night. Then depending on the time of day baby arrives and how long we have to stay in my husband will bring him to see baby. 
Everyone else will have to wait till we are home and settled as a family, I don’t do hospital visitors lol xx

We're planning to call my in laws when I go into labor/my son wakes up (with him it started at 3am and I'm not going to wake him up) and he'll stay with them for a few days. After she's born and everything is cleaned up we'll probably have them bring him over to meet his little sister, but then go back to their house until we get through all our initial appointments. I had our son at home but had to go into the hospital at 4 days for jaundice and it was hard with my dogs that had just gotten home having to then go back to my parents. This time around were planning for dogs at my parents and son at my in laws until everything is settled

My oldest is old enough to watch the middle and youngest who will also be almost 3 when baby is born. However I will have my Father come sit at the house with them because I’m not comfortable with oldest babysitting overnight if my labor goes that long and then after delivery and we are all settled. My husband and Dad will switch spots

When my son was born, my daughter was 2. I was induced so I knew when baby was coming. My husbands brother and his girlfriend (now wife) watched my daughter while I was in labor. Baby was born at 6:30 pm. So after we were all settled after birth my husband went home and spent the night at home. In the morning he brought our daughter to meet the baby, they stayed for awhile then went home for lunch and nap time.

My son stayed with my in-laws for the time I was in the hospital.  My husband went and got him a few hours after my daughter was born and brought him down.  We had alone time as a family and he visited for some time each day of my stay.

I plan on having my boyfriend go pick up my daughter after I have our son so that she can meet her little brother in the hospital. I want her to feel as included as possible. She just turned 4. I want her to be the third person to meet him. Then she will go with my mother in law again.

My oldest was 2.5 when we had our second child. He spent the night at his grandparents while we were at the hospital, and for the first few nights at home too. Our second was born in the middle of the night, so his grandparents brought him to the hospital that morning to meet his little brother. 
Also, about 2 months before he was born, we bought a stuffed toy for our oldest and told him the baby had bought it for him. He thought that was so nice of the baby, lol, and seemed a lot more excited about his new brother after that.

My daughter stayed with my mum when I went into labour with my son and mum bought her to visit as soon as he was born the same will be happening this time too they are both excited and will know what is happening as it will be a c section so I would hate for them to be left out in anyway.
