Testing for GD ... new to this

Hello all, after some advice.

Some facts:

> Since I was a child and used to get up early and go to school by myself (mum physically disabled), I have never eaten breakfast except on rare occasions or it makes me feel sick

> I had a gastric bypass in 2011 and am not allowed to do the glucose drink test, I have to now do the finger price x4 daily instead at 28 weeks

> I am due to start maternity leave at the end of this week.

> I have been TTC nearly 11 years for this little, what feels like, kick-boxer and for some reason they can’t explain to me, have had severe insomnia since 3, nearly 4 years ago when I was in the meds for our 2 failed IVF attempts. This baby was a surprise miracle 🌈

> with the insomnia, and my job, I work usually 14/15:00 to midnight and don’t get home until 2am. I lay there and try or get up and do something to make myself tired then try again but usually the earliest, on a good day I can get to sleep is 5am, usually more likely around 7am

> I was told yesterday to start this 4x a day thing and hat I MUST eat because they can’t diagnose me on blood sugar when I haven’t eaten all day except the snack at work and then meal when I get home.

> I set my alarm and woke up early and forced myself to eat this morning and then went back to bed after testing and did the same before I left for work (on my way there now). Both have me high readings but yesterday when I was at the doctor, i hadn’t had breakfast obviously, and he reading was normal

—- my question is that, is this to be expected when I’m not used to eating breakfast and lunch? I make sure I eat healthy snacks but a full meal - hoping it will be more manageable when I’m actually off on maternity leave from next week.

Tried calling the diabetic midwife to ask, no answer, so wondering if anyone here knows?
