New period new me!
Just needed to share this with people due to my excitement and happiness! Due to being underweight and full of anxiety most days, I haven’t had a period for SEVEN MONTHS. Worst time of my life. I was irritable, low sex drive, and I had really bad vaginal dryness too 😭 Told myself I was going to try and balance my hormones naturally for a year and avoid being poked and prodded at the OB. If I was still having issues, I’d go and get looked at.
So... I changed my diet completely, ate more fatty foods and smaller meals, put on about 7-8 pounds. Bought myself a ninja and made a daily smoothie with all kinds of fruits and nut milk and superfoods. Found ways to manage my stress. Took up yoga, treated myself to more girls days, even changed my work schedule a bit to allow me to get more sleep.
A few weeks ago I started having some weird white discharge and my boobs KILLED ME. I said to my boyfriend ‘either I’m getting a period or I’m pregnant because my boobs NEVER hurt unless I’m getting my period, and I’ve pretty much accepted I’m never getting a period again’. Sure enough, two weeks later, a normal, 7-day long period with cramps and all. And now, I feel the greatest I’ve felt in FOREVER.
I have an energy level, my boyfriend and I had sex for the first time in a while and it was AMAZING, my hair and skin look great, and overall I just feel lighter! (7 months of built up uterine lining coming out will probably do that to you). But I’m going to see if my new lifestyle changes have in fact helped me get back to where I need to be period-wise. So so proud of myself for sticking to my guns and allowing myself to trust my own body and instincts. ✨
