So I got hired at chickfila back in March 2019. Loved my job, never complained, never asked for days off, called in sick, never got warnings or write ups, friends with everyone, prayed with head of operations on breakfast breaks. Perfect job! I was in university on my last senior semester with 5 classes and I was also planning my wedding 2 days before finals week. Mid September I started to feel the pressure of school, work, and the wedding so I decided one had to go so I talked to my managers and they suggested I hand in my 2 weeks and after the wedding (December or January) I could just reapply and they would gladly hire me again.

Everything went great! Finished school, got married, now I need extra cash to move out with Husband. In January 12 I go in person to apply with manager that promised me my job back, she said YES, she just had to input my information back into the database and get me a new ID number so I can start in 2 days.

2 days, 3 days, 4 days to by and nothing. I go again in person and assistant manager tells me it’s probably because I didn’t fill out an actual application. I fill it out. Next day manager calls me saying that she’s decided she doesn’t want to hire people who have worked there before and that’s why she didn’t call me after she said she would.

Is this legally allowed? From Texas

P.S. many people have left and come back in the past so I don’t see why now and after she verbally confirmed with me twice I could have my job back.
