Christmas present for an Ex?

I went to San Francisco with my ex when we first started dating, and he showed me this watch he wanted really bad, he's never had anything that nice. Now we're broken up and I had plans to buy the watch... But I still want to, even if we don't end up getting back together. I still would like him to have it. Is that bad? Do you think buying it and sending to him for Christmas, with an explanation behind it, is weird?
