How did you leave?

Ladies,
How did you find the strength, or the courage to leave a relationship? A long one. We’ve had problems before our baby was born but it’s seemed to have gotten worse. Every week we’re battling it out. I think it’s time for us to separate, and separate for good. And I’ve tried leaving before. And after 5 days he made his way right back in. I’m 100% sure I’m ready to leave him. The thing I want most out of our relationship is to be engaged. I cancelled Valentine’s Day this year because of it, I’m not faking it for a day when I’m not happy where our relationship is. Any advice on how to stick to your word when they come running back trying to butter you up??? I have to stand my ground this time. Enough is just enough.

I left when I was unhappy overall. I was unhappy most days, that was enough for me.

It took 5 years and so many many tears and screaming fights and even threats to my physical safety, but eventually I was so emotionally spent I was able to let go with minimal trouble. It was the last straw when he went through my stuff (for the billionth time) and found out I cheated once upon a time (but had accused me so many other times) and at that point it really became clear that none of that was ever going to change. We were not compatible, even if I hadn’t cheated. 
So my answer is i was able to leave after I was truly emotionally drained and had no tears left to cry or feelings left to feel for him.

My mom always says it’s easier to leave with a loaf of bread under your arm. Aka a rebound who will distract you from the immediate pain and desire to get back together until you can process it and make a healthier choice
