I would hope parents would sit their kids down and tell them how to have safe sex. They can be disappointed but punishing when it comes to sex is never the answer. The kid is still going to find a way. 
As a soon to be parent I would rather know I taught my son or daughter how to be safe and to confide in me or my husband when they have questions. Sex is natural and a part of life it’s going to happen at some point and I’d rather be open about sex and know they’re doing it than have them hide it from me and potentially not have safe sex because they were scared to talk to us.
