Savings account?

I want to start my kids savings account behind my BD’s/husbands back. Do you know the requirements to open one up for your kids ? He ended up stealing their baby shower money (7,000) after we agreed after taxes we’d put it away he ended up wasting all the money on God knows what and Now I want to start up again but without him knowing. Help pls

You just have to have the kids social security number and your DL. Both parents do not need to sign.

Just go to the bank with your kids info. I think they needed their social security card if I remember right. And only one parent can be on the account anyway as the person who controls it. So you wouldn’t need your husband at all to open it   And maybe ask them not to send you statements in the mail

We went into my bank to open up my daughter an account when she was very young. I think I just had the birth certificate. I don’t think I had her social yet but I’m sure that’s all you’d need. I signed up for an account and it is under mine. My SO has no access to my account or my daughters since I’m not married. I have Bank of America but I’m sure most banks have like a child account which is opened under yours.

You could also open a trust account in your child’s name. It means you have full control of the account until you decide to sign it over to your child when they are older. This is a good option if you are concerned that your SO might take the child to the bank and withdraw funds without you.
