Can you get a tattoo while breastfeeding?

I’m about to have my baby boy and I wanted a tattoo after I had gone (not right after) but around 3-6 months and I’m going to breast feed as long as I can... am I able to get a tattoo?

I never got any negative responses when I asked this question to moms & my doctor & multiple tattoo artists a couple years ago. I went ahead & got one and it went fine 💜🤷🏻‍♀️

I had the same question and I asked the tattoo artist and they said as long as the needle is clean you should be ok, it’s really just personal choice

My artist wouldn’t touch me until at least 6 months post partum, but preferably a year, especially if nursing, so my hormones could even out to avoid funky healing on top of the minimal, but present, risk of BBP. A few mo the felt like a small price to pay for a permanent work of art 🤷🏼‍♀️

So thing is when you get a tattoo you are at risk of hepatitis, hiv, ect...obviously a reputable tattoo parlour that practices optimum cleanliness minimizes these risks but it's generally not reccomended because you could pass on something you contracted through breastmilk to your baby. The risk while small isn't really worth it when you can just wait.

I personally wouldn’t because of risk of infection. The tattoo shop that me and my husband go to won’t tattoo for anyone pregnant or nursing and even if you’re not nursing they wait till at least 6 months pp (something about hormones affecting healing idk you’d have to google that) I’m sure their are some artists that will tattoo but I’d recommend doing your own research and talk to your doctor
