Bacterial meningitis 😞😭

Brittany

My 8 week old was admitted into the hospital yesterday morning for difficulty breathing and a high fever of 103

The doctors at one hospital did all they could to find out what was the cause

Rsv and flu tests came back negative

Urine negative for uti

Blood work looked normal but white blood counts were a little low

Then they did a lumbar puncture 😭 and diagnosed my baby with bacterial meningitis.. they are still not sure of the cause but they are saying it is a gram positive bacteria in the fluid and her bloodstream 😭😭😔😔😔😩😩😩 I hate seeing my baby so helpless she’s already so little and young.. her little body is fighting soo hard ! Fevers back to back with nothing but Tylenol for it and antibiotics for the meningitis 😞😞😞 I can tell she’s in pain too by her whimpers . And she’s in and out of sleep . I’m so glad I got her to the hospital when I did and that they transferred us to a better children’s hospital where they are keeping a close eye on her ... needless to say we’ll be here for about a week and she’ll need to be on antibiotics for 2 to 3 weeks 😢😢😢

Feel better baby girl .... please keep my family in your prayers mamas ❤️😞

Update:

They found the bacteria causing the meningitis was Group B streptococcus 😭😩 exactly what I knew it was. I tested positive for group B strep in November. But wasn’t treated because I was scheduled for a repeat cesarean. The infectious disease doctors said that that’s how she could have contracted it regardless if it wasn’t a vaginal delivery. She didn’t catch it at birth but later on as the weeks went by. So they’ve narrowed her antibiotics choices from vancomycin and ceftriaxone to just penicillin. They are giving her the decadron too for the inflammation. Tylenol for her fevers because they keep spiking . Her vital signs are fantastic other than the temperature & Still in and out of sleep. She’s eating pretty well as well & Staying hydrated 🙌🏾

I appreciate and thank you all for keeping baby girl and family in your prayers 🙏🏾😌
