We are renting a room at the local aquarium for a couple hours and I’ve been undecided if we want to open gifts there or not. My daughters actual birthday was yesterday and we had just a mini dinner celebration where she had a couple little gifts to open in front of people and she really didn’t care to. If I was having something at my house I would open gifts but having it in public I have to clean up and haul all the garbage out. Plus she wont really be able to play with the stuff right away. My mother in law keeps telling me by us not opening gifts in front of everyone thats just rude. What she doesn’t realize is Im also thinking of her...my family tends to spend a lot of money on gifts and go all out where my MIL doesn’t have that kind of money to spend. I don’t need her feeling bad because the “other grandma” spent way more than her.

We are having a really small party so it’ll be easy to open them but if we were doing a bigger party probably not
