Its was the hand of God

Lededra D • Hey, I am 26 years of age. Me and my better half have being trying to Concieve for 6 years. Hopefully we'll be able to get our little blessing.

Mathew 26:39-40

39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

So today as I was reading this chapter when I made it to these verses God helped me to understand something I never had before. In the past when someone taught, or preached on these verses that always pointed out how Peter and the two son of Zebedee failed Jesus seemingly. They always spoke on how we have to be sure to surround ourselves with people who are spiritually equipped or own our level spiritually; they always spoke on how you can't have just anyone to go with you in spiritual warfare and they spoke on how even the people closest to you fail you sometimes. All of this true in retrospect but I dont think it applies to what is happening in these particular scriptures. What happened is God had to put his hand in the mix. See, one of the laws of prayer is " If any 2 people agree on anything in prayer our heavenly Father will do it". So imagine if Peter, the 2 sons of Zebedee had prayed the same prayer as Jesus, saying in unison "Father let this cup be passed from Him". God is not a liar so He would have honored it. God knew what he was doing by causing them to sleep. God knew that eventually Jesus would line up with His(God) will through prayer. But He couldnt have those who didnt understand it fully praying because they would have prayed the wrong thing.
