My grandpa died this past week from dementia. He was suffering very badly towards the end so he’s truly in a better place.

He and I weren’t very close. I’m sad but not crying sad, I guess? I’m sad for my grandma and my mom.

My question is how to handle other loved ones grieving? My mom called me crying when he first passed and I had no idea what to say and I felt like a complete jerk for not consoling her.

Also, the viewing and funeral are this weekend and I always feel like if I don’t act super upset or sad at them, I’m being insensitive or rude.
