When do we start sleeping on our side?

Question

Is there a guideline to when we should start sleeping on our side? Or is it bump size dependant? I'm trying to slowly get used to the idea of not sleeping on my tummy but I always wake up that way. Haven't gotten a pillow yet, felt early for that but maybe I should start to get myself used to it?

Your body will tell you when it is time to side sleep. It becomes super uncomfortable to be on your back. If you have trouble sleeping on your side you can put a pillow wedge behind your back to give you support.

When you feel uncomfortable. You’ll hurt yourself before the baby gets hurt and will automatically move. I am a side sleeper though I sometimes lay on my back. I can’t do that anymore cause I already can’t breathe anymore so I have no choice but to sleep on my side. I should note that I lean forward a lot so I partially squish my belly. I did that the last 2 pregnancies as well. It’s totally fine

I’m 12 weeks and I’m used to sleeping on my Back. I had to whip out the body pillow and it has helped a lot ! I recommend it sooner than later

I also sleep on my tummy, and I find it now it started being slightly uncomfortable (from around week 10). I still do it but then naturally roll on my side as the discomfort kicks in

I’m a back sleeper and I just naturally have started sleeping on my side I noticed. It’s just more comfortable now that I’m getting a bump. With my first I always started on my side but would wake up back on my back and did throughout my whole pregnancy and had no problems

It’s recommended that you stop sleeping on your back at 16 weeks
