How much baby food should I give my 5 month old and how often?

My doctor said that it’s ok to start giving baby food but I forgot to ask how much and how often. Lol mommy brain... oops.

Once a day for now and always give after a bottle. Baby should still be getting all needed nutrients from breastmilk/formula.

Hello. It’s very little at the start. Just try either once a day or whenever is convenient for you such as family meal times. At the moment food is just for fun so they eat very very little until about 1 years old and just play with most of it before then so there’s no need to worry too much about how much they end up eating :) x

The Johns Hopkins hospital website had a great chart that I found by googling when I 1st started solids w/ my daughter, it showed types of foods & the amounts for each age, I found it to be super helpful 
I think I did like a couple of teaspoons of avocado or banana mashed w/ breastmilk once or twice a day when my daughter was around 5.5 months, we eventually added in an oat cereal that I also mixed w/ breastmilk
