Who would they see first?

Question

I asked my husband if I went into early labor when he was away and had to be rushed for an emergency C-section, would he first come check on me, or our daughter in the NICU? He said he would come see me first. What would your partner do?

I told my husband if that happens, he should leave me and go be with the baby

My last c-section I was put to sleep suddenly. My husband didn’t leave my side. His logic is there are team of people to help the baby and he’s my only support system. He’s right I would’ve freaked out if I woke up alone. It’s just a man thing. I remember learning about it in psychology that if there’s a fire women would save the kids and men would save their wife.

He may not have the choice. If you were put to sleep in an emergency, he likely wouldn't be able to see you for a while until you wake. He should be able to go in and see the baby though shortly after she's born

If it’s a true emergency and you end up GA, many times baby would be ready before you wake from anesthesia (barring any complications for baby). So unless you’d want him to not see baby, or he didn’t want to see baby until after you woke up, he could just be waiting around when he could be with baby. 
There are just too many factors to say. 
Baby may or may not end up in NICU, the type of anesthesia you have to have can very, the time for you to get to recovery etc.

This was a really hard question for my husband, he only said the baby after I told him I'd rather him check the baby first 😅

In our case, if an emergency arises, our baby will have to be flown to another hospital.  He will go with baby, knowing my mom will be there with me.  He knows I'd rather b6e be with our son.  Baby comes first.

I made my husband promise if that happened, he would stay by the baby's side as much as he could. He said he would stay with me, but I pointed out, in case of emergency there's nothing he can do to help me. I don't want our baby alone without family in their first moments or possibly hours of life
